Biology in the Last Decade

Леня Мирный; 16+.

Prerequisites: high school biology or previous Camp Biology with me

I’ll review breakthroughs in biology that happened in the last decade and resulted from application of genomic techniques. Who we are and where we came from: mixing and migration of human populations. How cancer develops and which genes drive it. What is epigenetics and can we measure Nature vs Nurture? Which bacteria live in and on us and what do they do there? How many different cells are we made of, and what makes up different organs? How does the genome fold in 3D? Does deep learning help to solve biological problems?

Note: this is a new class, not a continuation of previous years'
