Misinformation: how it works, how it spreads, how we stop it

Daniel Mirny; 13+; 1 meeting.

Misinformation (factually inaccurate information) is shared widely and believed frequently. Not always on purpose. How do people learn (and unlearn) factually inaccurate information? How does it spread and how can we fight against it? We’ll think about the findings from a variety of different disciplines. This is a hot topic with important (often obvious sometimes not so obvious) downstream consequences and remains a difficult problem for many scientists, policy makers, and social media platforms. I’m pessimistic about our ability to combat it. But maybe you can convince me otherwise ;) I’ll talk - you’ll ask questions, we’ll think together and see what ideas we come up with.
