Wilderness Survival 101
Liza Karnaukh; 8-11; 3-4 meetings.
Camping is easy, right? Especially if you have a generator, a 3D printer, and microphones!
But what if we had to survive in the wilderness without cell service or Frosted Flakes? In this class, we will learn basic survival skills in the woods including: how to build a survival kit, how to read a compass and map, how to build a campfire, how to purify water, basic first aid, and more! We will also learn about local wildlife and Leave No Trace principles - all through interactive games, teamwork challenges, and journeys into the forest.
No prior experience is necessary, but this course will involve some light hiking in the woods along the State Park trails behind the lake. There may be one class where we go on a longer hike to test our survival skills!
